Landscape architect, landscape planner & expert witness

I design beautiful and functional spaces, large and small, from private gardens, schools and playgrounds to residential development, parks and streets for both people and nature.

My inspiration comes from our magnificent local landscapes such as the High Weald, the Kent Downs, the Surrey Hills and the South Downs and from our long history of farming and working the land.

With professional expertise and an artist's eye, I offer personal attention as an experienced landscape architect and landscape planner, focussed on the client brief to achieve an excellent design-led outcome.

About Louise

Louise is a Chartered Landscape Architect with over 40 years of experience; she has been a judge for the Kent Design Awards and the South Downs National Park Design Awards, is a Design Panel Member for Design South East and the South Downs National Park.

Louise studied landscape architecture in Edinburgh, worked there for three years with architects Michael Laird & Partners, before moving to Hong Kong and Singapore. On returning to the United Kingdom Louise worked in Medway where she co-led the Medway Landscape and Urban Design Framework and represented Medway at two public inquiries.

Louise set up LHLA in 2001. Her work has included a wide range of projects both large and small in London and the South East.
