EXCEPTION HOUSE, OXNEY, KENT

EXCEPTION HOUSE, OXNEY, KENT

A new-build exception house on the edge of Wittersham village on the Isle of Oxney, Kent overlooking the Rother Levels and within the High Weald National Landscape.

LHLA reviewed the optimum house location and undertook a LVIA, setting out design parameters for the proposed house working with Sub Rosa Architects; LHLA prepared a Landscape and Biodiversity Masterplan and Landscape Design and presented to the Ashford Design Review Panel (DRP) which was strongly supportive.

The house was recessive and single storey, clad in charred timber and set in an apple orchard, with a series of richly planted terraces of flowering shrubs and perennials and a small pool.

Despite the quality of the design, the application was unfortunately refused.
